Rickey Henderson and Doug Mirabelli drove in two runs apiece as the Boston Red Sox posted an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Grapefruit League.

Mirabelli belted his first homer of the spring and scored twice for Boston, which plated three runs in the third inning and did all of its scoring in the first five frames. Tony Clark and Edgard Clemente also homered for the Red Sox.

Darren Oliver and Tim Wakefield combined to toss six innings and allowed two hits and four strikeouts for Boston.

Pirates infielder Mike Benjamin, who missed the entire 2001 season after undergoing elbow surgery, made his first appearance of the spring and went hitless in two at-bats.

Jimmy Anderson allowed four runs — two earned — and three hits in 2 2/3 innings. Tony McKnight yielded four runs and five hits, one walk and three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
