1st inning

Boston: Nixon HBP, Lewis singles to center, Daubach grounds to first and reaches on the pitcher’s error. Everett flies to right. Hatteburg flies to center. Sox up 1-0.

Pittsburgh: Brown flies out to Everett. Derek Bell grounds out to shortstop Merloni. Kendall hit by a pitch. Giles grounds out to Daubach.

2nd inning

Boston: Lansing grounds out to shortstop. Veras grounds out to shortstop. Merloni singles. Cone singles. Trot pops out to first.

Pittsburgh: Ramirez flies out. Vander Wal triples to deep center field. Wilson grounds to Daubach who flips to Cone, Cone can’t get it, runner safe, VanDerWal scores. No error given. Nunez taps to 2nd, Wilson out at 2nd, relay to Daubach is late, 2 outs. _________?

3rd inning

Boston: Lewis reaches first and is caught stealing. Daubach bounces one to short and is thrown out by Nunez. Everett rockets a line drive to third that is caught.

Pittsburgh: First batter grounds out to Lansing. Bell puts a “texas-Leaguer” single into center. Kendall strikes out on a 2-2 pitch out of the Zone Giles lines one to Daubach to retire the side.

4th inning

Boston: Brian O’Connor (LHP) new Pittsburgh pitcher. Hatteburg hit by a pitch in the back. Lansing rolls one to short, and the DP is turned cleanly. Nunez-Wilson-VanDerWal. Veras grounds out to short to retire the side.

PIttsburgh: Merker comes on to replace Cone. Merker walks Ramirez (Aramis). VanDerWal homers deep to right for two runs. Enrique Wilson lines to right. Nunez lays down a bunt…..Daubach fields and makes a clean throw to Merker for the out. Pitcher O’Connor flies out to Lewis.

5th inning

Boston: Merloni up……Izzy sighting!!!!! Izzy on deck to bat for Merker apparently. Merloni pops one into short LF grabbed by Giles. Izzy called back!! Encarnacion up and called out on strikes. Nixon also called out on strikes.

Pittsburgh: New pitcher on for Boston (Allen McDill, LHP). Brown walks. Bell bounces one to the pitcher, who makes the play at 1st…..Brown to 2nd on the play. Kendall up…..and Brown is caught stealing. Bases clear for Kendall with a 1-0 count. Chopper to short, Merloni makes the play.

6th inning

Boston: Williams is the new pitcher for the Pirates. Lewis rips one to 3rd which goes off of Ramirez’s knee….Lewis reaches 1st. He has been on base 3 times (3-3) in the game. Daubach hits a soft liner to right that falls……1st and 2nd nobody out. Everett drills one to the wall in left……..Lewis and Daubach score, it is 3-3 and Everett winds up with a double. Hatteburg grounds out to the right side, gets the “sacrifice” as he advances Everett to 3rd. One out. Lansing walks. Veras chops one off the plate, out at first with Everett scoring on the fielder’s choice and Lansing to 2nd. Merloni hits one to short, and Merloni is out at first.

Pittsburgh: (New Boston pitcher Arroyo) Vander Wal rolled out to 1st. Ramirez robbed of extra bases by Lewis, now in center field. Giles out on a pop-up to the SS in shallow left.

7th inning

Boston: Silva new Pirates pitcher. George Williams (#80) in to hit in the #9 hole. He hits one down the line in right, it is a long single. Nixon lines a single to left, Williams to 3rd on the play. Lewis called out on strikes. Burkhardt pinch-hits for Daubach and strikes out swinging. Neill batting for Everett. On a full count, Neill hits one high and hard to right for a 3 run Homer! Hatteberg lines a single to LF. Grebeck up for Lansing, called out on strikes.
