Red Sox 1st — Hooper doubled to center field. Shean singled to right, Hooper to third. Strunk doubled to center, Hooper scored, Shean to third. Schang singled to center, Shean and Strunk scored. McInnis sacrificed Schang to second base. Hoblitzell walked. Scott flied out to right, Schang to third, Hoblitzell to second. Agnew flied out to deep right.
Washington 2nd — Shanks doubled off the left field fence (the ball hits a shoe store advertisement and he will receive a new pair of shoes on Sunday). Judge grounded out second to first, Shanks to third. Morgan hit by a pitch. Morgan steals second. Foster hit into a force play, Shanks scored, Morgan tagged out by McInnis in a rundown.
Red Sox 3rd — Strunk safe when Judge dropped Ainsmith’s throw. Schang forced Strunk at second. McInnis beat out an infield single, Schang to second. Hoblitzell walked, Schang to third, McInnis to second. Scott hit into a force play, Hoblitzell out at second, second to shortstop, relay throw to first is wild, Schang and McInnis scored. Agnew made the third out.
Red Sox 6th – Dumont pitching. Leonard singled to center (his first hit of year). Hooper doubled to right (his 3rd double of the afternoon), Leonard to third. Shean struck out. Strunk hit into a force play, Leonard out at home, first to catcher, Hooper to third. Strunk stole second. Schang walked. McInnis singled to left, Hooper and Strunk scored, Schang scored on Shanks’s throwing error (his toss hit Strunk in the head and got by Ainsmith).
Notes:
The Red Sox left at midnight on a train for New York. George Whiteman had a bad cold and did not go with the team. He came to the park on Thursday with a high fever and Barrow sent him home.
